FRIDAY: JazzPop & First Friday Shenanigans
JazzPop returns to the Hammer in Westwood this September, starting off this week with the Michael Dessen Trio. The Socal trombonist, along with Christopher Tordini on bass and Jazon Nazary on drums "navigate Dessen's wildly inventive compositions with personality and conviction, balancing nuance and sensitivity with exuberance and virtuosity." Starts at 7:30pm and entry is free.

| YAY: First Friday on Abbot Kinney |
Then again it's also First Friday in Venice, which means businesses are open late (like the delicious Local 1205) and happy hour is super happy (a la $4 sangria at Primitivo). Be there between 6:00pm-10:00pm to grab a bite and a drink, and check out the boutiques or peruse the art galleries. Speaking of which...
