Westside Weekender: September 28-30

"Close your eyes and tap your heels together three times.
And think to yourself, there's no place like home."

[Especially when home is the Westside and it's Carmageddon II]

FRIDAY:  Oz & Zanzibar

Santa Monica: Tote your lawn chair and a blanket down to the beach for some music, food and a free outdoor screening of The Wizard of Oz.  Front Porch Cinema at the Pier features a movie every Friday night through October 19th.  The DJ spins at 6:00pm and the movie rolls at 7:30pm.

Then boogie on over to Zanzibar where KCRW DJ Anthony Valdez and DJ Jahkova, along with KG Superstar on mic, will churn out everything from soul classics to hip hop to 90's throwbacks, all for your dancing pleasure.  Free before 10:00pm, and $8.00 cover after that.

SATURDAY: Predestination and Harvest Moon

"Predestination" (detail), 2012, collage with burnt,
colored rice paper

Brentwood: Leslie Sacks Fine Art will exhibit Minjung Kim's "Predestination" for the next month, kicking off with a reception and brief talk from the artist.  This will be Kim's first American showing since her last two solo exhibitions at Leslie Sacks back in 2003 and 2007.   Reception is from 5:00pm-7:30pm and onsite validated parking available.

Santa Monica: Then after your culture fix, swing by SHOREbar for another sexy Full Moon Party.  Make sure to RSVP here.

SUNDAY: Brunch and Artmageddon

Venice: The new kid on the block, Superba Snack Bar, now offers brunch!  They're still not taking reservations so get there before you're already hungry.

Your Neighborhood:  Check out this Artmageddon map and walk/bike/pogo-stick/hop-scotch to a gallery/museum/theater near you!
