The
Sawtelle neighborhood on the Westside is probably best known for the bustling street
of the same name. Lined with Japanese
restaurants, Sawtelle Boulevard is also called Little Osaka. But there’s more to do here than stuff your
face with sushi.
This Saturday Giant Robot 2 (aka
GR2) will host its tenth Game Night, featuring Glorkbot’s Mini-Adventure,
Tri-Tri-Triobelisk and Samurai Gunn.
Haven’t heard of them? Eric
Nakamura, owner of Giant Robot, says the games they choose to showcase “are
indie games, meaning the studios are small, their distribution is limited, but
they're accessible and usually more creative than the average game. They often
push gaming into new directions.”
The event coincides with GR2’s
Game Over Video Game Culture Art Collection, a display of “video game inspired
art” that runs until June 27.
Giant Robot started as a
publication focused on “Asian, Asian-American, and new hybrid culture in 1994,
but has evolved into a full-service pop culture provider with shops and
galleries in Los Angeles.”

10:00 p.m.
