Learn the Ropes of Knotwork

If you don’t have any Cinco de Mayo plans this Saturday, consider attending Cause for Creativity: The Knotwork Workshop at Santa Monica Museum of Art.  For $10 you can learn the craft of knot-tying and help fashion a 6-sided rope hammock for Bergamot Station’s People Park.

The class will be led by Kagan Taylor and Justin Rice, the master minds behind Highland Park-based Knowhow Shop.  This cooperative DIY lab and design studio provides the public tools, space, and (as the name implies) knowhow to construct furniture, create art, and carry out architectural ventures.  They also offer an interesting array of classes - from carving your own wooden kitchen utensils to crafting planters and tool boxes.

The workshop starts at 2, leaving you plenty of time to reward your civic duty and tired fingers with a margarita or two (or three, no one's judging) afterward.

Remember to reserve your spot before showing up!
