The Song of Spring: Public Pianos to Saturate Los Angeles Landscape

The city will be alive with the sound of music this season, courtesy of Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra in conjunction with artist Luke Jerram.  “Play Me, I’m Yours” - an ambitious aesthetic endeavor conceived of by Jerram - began engaging communities across the globe in 2008, and will grace our amorphous metropolis with its twenty-second installment next month.

Local artists and organizations will lovingly prepare and adorn the 30 pianos that will be sprinkled throughout our urban landscape.  They debut April 12 at noon with a simultaneous performance of Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier at all of the locations across LA.  The instruments will then be available day and night for all angelenos, daring passersby to express themselves and connect with other members of the community.

The exhibition runs through May 3, and thereafter the pianos will be donated to schools and organizations in the area.
